In the western town of San Giovanni Rotondo, there are two churches dedicated to Santa Maria delle Grazie. The small convent of 1540, attached to the oldest church is the place where Padre Pio lived from 4 September 1916 until 23 September 1968, the date of his death.
In the smaller church, consecrated in 1629, there is a beautiful icon of Our Lady of Grace. Because of the number of devotees who attended the celebrations religious side to the oldest church, was made a bigger always dedicated to Santa Maria delle Grazie. In the crypt was built under the entire complex is preserved tomb of the brother of Pietralcina, saint since 2002.
